Curaçao Marriott Beach Resort at Piscadera Bay was sold in August 2016 to Piscamar Beach Resort, which is owned by the Guis family. Piscamar Beach Resort supervises the expansion and entire renovation of the hotel. The hotel is being expanded from 248 to 328 rooms, 8 suites and 4 floors with an additional building layer. The entire building and surrounding premises are upgraded such as the interior, electricity cabling, drainage, sewerage, air conditioning and landscaping.
In addition, the renewed Curaçao Marriott Beach Resort will offer an extra ballroom of 557 square meters that adds 300 places to the existing ballroom, a spacious open lobby, the so-called “great room” with a spectacular view of the sea, an executive VIP lounge, a state of the art spa, fitness center and brand new kitchens. According to plan, Curaçao Marriott Beach Resort can welcome its first guests in October 2019. This project entails an investment of $21.5 million of the owner’s equity and an additional $34.5 million investment by a syndicate of banks led by Maduro & Curiel’s Bank.
Curaçao Marriott Beach Resort is committed to give a contribution to the local community. Impacto B.V. has been hired by the hotel to organize a job fair on July 27, 2019 to recruit employees for roughly 400 vacancies. All hired employees will receive in-house training from the hotel. Moreover, the resort will provide a free culinary training program of three months to people who have a passion for the kitchen (previous experience is not required). After completion of this training, Curaçao Marriott Beach Resort will offer the best ten graduates a job at the hotel.
